Kawasaki Other description

I JUST hit 13,000 miles on it a couple days ago.

At about TWICE the horsepower of other cruisers, the ZL 1000 is a FAST but comfortable motorcycle (My girlfriend and daughter love riding with me and say it's very comfortable for them too). VERY fun and very RARE. Kawasaki only made about 2,000 of these bikes, cruiser manufactured with a Ninja 1000 motor, in '87 and '88. A guy on YouTube explains it like this ...... "You're more likely to see Elvis crash his spaceship into the Loch Ness Monster than to find one of these". LOL Built to embarrass other cruisers with it's speed.  It has a big comfortable cruiser seat and the sound, horsepower and speed of a Ninja 1000. I ride it once or twice a week and it runs and rides AWESOME.

The spots on the paint in the pictures are actually just water drops. The only issue on mine is there is a bubble in the PAINT (not metal) about the size of my palm on the top right side of the tank (that you really don't see unless up close or looking for it), and it doesn't have the Kawasaki tags on the tank. There is a paint shop down the road that would paint the tank for less than $200. And sometimes when starting, if it acts like it isn't getting electricity, I have to take the seat off and press my finger on where the battery cables connect to the starter switch and press the start button and it starts right up. Pretty sure it's just a connection (maybe needs to be tightened), but if it IS the starter switch, Partzilla has it for $30.92.

A few months ago I put a new K&N air filter and battery in it. The back tire is still new and front is pretty good. Also a few months ago I paid a mechanic $700 to go through and de-winterize it. He cleaned the carbs (4 of them) (which doesn't have to be done unless you let it sit all winter), changed the oil, changed the differential oil (shaft driven so you don't have to deal with a chain, yay!), changed spark plugs, rebuilt the petcock, and checked the coolant and compression (which were good). It has NO leaks and doesn't use up or burn oil. Needs nothing. Just jump on and RIDE! It also comes with the original tool kit and wheel lock in a compartment under the seat, the cover and an open face helmet (No tag in the helmet, but it feels like a large or extra large).

I've had a couple messages asking where the bike is located. I don't know why they didn't see it at the top of the ad, but we are in Mount Juliet, TN. By Nashville.

Shipping: None. You have to pick it up.

Here's what Kawasaki have to say about it: Forty years after its European launch at the 1972 IFMA show in Cologne, Germany, the Z1 and resultant Z line of motorcycles, are firmly part of the biking landscape. As part of the activities to promote this landmark, Kawasaki has created a Z40 celebration T shirt.
