Kawasaki Other description

1977 KZ650-C1 Cafe Racer

Description

This model was offered only in North America (and possibly Japan). It was nicknamed the "Custom" and was introduced as a mid-year model in early 1977. There were few of these models assembled/sold before the model year change to the 1978 models so these are fairly rare machines. The C1 model differed from the B model in the following areas: cast wheels instead of spoked; disc brakes both front and rear with dual discs at the front having the calipers mounted behind the fork legs instead of in front like the B models; different fork sliders to cater for the rear mounted calipers. The C1 also sported a "first" for its time, four-way hazard flashers, which were not fitted to the B1. ( Information via wikipedia / 1977 kz650 owners manual)

Condition
This bike has been in storage for many years, it was a barn find in the mountains of western Maryland. It is pretty dirty but the motor will clean up (as seen in some of the pictures). There are a few deep scratches in the paint on the fuel tank and a few chips in the paint. The seat has some small tears in it, and there is light surface rust on the frame and various other places (as pictured). Most everything is either dirt or light cosmetic rust, so it should really clean up nicely. This bike doesn't run, the motor is turning over but I don't have a key so I cant start it. This sale does not include a title, bill of sale only (eBay made me pick title condition clear). This is a really cool historic piece and would be a great winter project, I need more room in my garage and have way to many projects so this is a no reserve auction going to the highest bidder. Good Luck!

EICMA 2013: 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 First Impressions Video

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

“It looks kind of angry!” That pretty much sums up what Editor-in-Chief Kevin Duke thinks of Kawasaki‘s newly redesigned Z1000 and its “sugomi” design philosophy. And for those of you who feel turned off by today’s machines and their dependance on the latest electronics, Kawasaki says the Z1000 does not have traction control because they want to keep it raw and untamed. 2014 WSBK – Donington Results

Mon, 26 May 2014

Tom Sykes and Loris Baz captured a pair of one-two finishes for Kawasaki at England’s Donington Park. The first race saw the reigning World Superbike champion fight his way up from 11th place for the win while Race 2 offered a three-way battle between the two Kawasaki riders and Aprilia‘s Sylvain Guintoli. Race One #493744055 / gettyimages.com Normally a strong starter, Sykes had a nearly disastrous beginning in Race One, while up front, Suzuki‘s Alex Lowes battled with Guintoli and Baz.

How to wheelie ten tonnes of Z1300

Tue, 21 Dec 2010

Yes, the video may be old (that's Barry Sheene doing the voice-over) but it's still worth seeing. This mad Fin was the inspiration for every stunt rider you've ever seen. Forget the White Helmets or Dave Taylor, he practically invented stunt riding all by himself.
