Honda Valkyrie description

2002 HONDA Valkyrie, The Honda Valkyrie is a motorcycle was manufactured by Honda, from model 1996 to 2003. It was designated GL1500C in the US . Honda's Valkyrie speaks that most eloquent of cruiser languages - torque. Unlike high-revving sportbikes, Valkyrie's performance isn't measured in horsepower, but in pounds-feet. The kind that come with cubic centimetres -- 1520 of them in all -- distributed evenly amongst Valkyrie's six smooth-running cylinders. And unlike a lot of other cruisers, the Valkyrie's performance doesn't fall flat when the road gets twisty. Thanks to a generous heaping of ground clearance, stout spine frame and robust 45mm inverted fork, the Valkyrie is as adept in a corner as it is in a straight line. Not only is the Valkyrie's six-cylinder engine unique in sound and feel. The Valkyrie is also plenty comfortable with plush suspension, a roomy seat and a host of accessories to transform the performance cruiser into a long-haul tourer. Deluxe model adds two-tone (Pearl Dark Blue/Pearl Silver) paint. The Valkyrie engine is a 1,520 cubic centimetres (93 cu in) liquid cooled, horizontally-opposed flat-six engine transplanted from Honda's Goldwing model. This was unusual since most cruiser style motorcycles were based on a V-twin engine design similar to the engine of a Harley-Davidson. In its transplant from the Goldwing, the most notable engine changes were the camshaft and the change to six individual 28 mm carburetors, one for each cylinder, changes which increased power and torque. The Honda Valkyrie. Scream your individuality. Engine Liquid-cooled 1520cc six-cylinder is tuned for excellent roll-on power and sophisticated cruising comfort. Previous generation Gold Wing-derived engine adds six carburetors, revised camshaft timing and a free-flow exhaust system to boost engine output considerably. Carefully designed chrome engine accents, including manifolds, timing belt cover and reshaped head covers, add to custom styling appeal. Five-speed transmission with close gear-ratios for exciting roll-on performance. Quiet and virtually maintenance-free shaft drive. Simple-to-service screw-and-locknut valve-clearance adjusters. Tuned six-into-six exhaust system has three individual outlet pipes enclosed in a single muffler-like casing on each side. The six separate pipes give a unique and exciting sound, along with excellent performance. Maintenance-free hydraulic clutch, electronic ignition, belt-driven camshafts and shaft drive reduce servicing time and cost. Powerful, 546-watt alternator offers plenty of power for electrical accessories. Chassis/Suspension Strong, rugged tuned chassis features solidly mounted engine for confidence-inspiring handling. Massive, 45mm inverted front fork gives 130mm of plush, well-controlled travel. Large-section aluminum alloy top and bottom triple-clamps add to fork rigidity. Dual rear shocks with five-position preload adjustability give 120mm of wheel travel.

UPDATE: 2010 Honda VFR1200F Review -  First Ride Article I’m here at the Sugo Sportsland racetrack in Japan, an odd place for what seems to be a sport-touring machine like the new VFR1200F. But my time at Sugo today was one of the most incredible riding experiences of my career.

2014 Honda CB1100 EX Revealed

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

Alongside the updated 2014 CB1100, Honda revealed a new variant it calls the CB1100 EX. Both 2014 models were announced at the Tokyo Motor Show but we’re still waiting to hear whether Honda will be coming stateside. The difference between the regular CB1100 and the EX are not that apparent, and at quick glance, it may be difficult to tell them apart.

Italian Authorities Seize Alleged Knockoffs from EICMA Show – Again

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

In what’s become somewhat of a dubious EICMA tradition, Italian authorities have seized scooters from various show exhibitors because their designs allegedly infringed on the designs of other manufacturers. Back in 2011, authorities seized a three-wheeled scooter called the Yiben YB 250 ZKT because it was deemed to resemble the Piaggio MP3. Last year, authorities seized six models from five exhibitors that allegedly infringed on the trademarked design of Vespa scooters.
