Honda Interceptor description

2002 Honda VFR800 Interceptor with unquestionably low miles, roughly 12750 to be precise. But it gets better.

The bike is clean, very clean. In fact the only blemish I have found is a scuff by the seat from me not hiking my leg up far enough getting on the bike. This is clearly pictured. Now you might be asking, “Hey Ethan, (Ethan is my name) this pearl white color is not factory for your year model, what gives?” Well truth be told, I had the factory oem fairings and gas tank repainted to the factory tri coat pearl white found on VFRs post 2006 because I love the clean white look, not because this bike is a crash victim. (I have paint code)

When I did the paint, I took the opportunity to update the signals. So you might notice that this 02 has the tail lamps and front turn signals from an 06, which are clear with new bulbs. Speaking of bulbs, the headlights are still halogen, but have been upgraded to a higher lumen output build that appears a crisp white color, which in my opinion really completes the look. Pulling this all together is a set of White LED underglow lights. All of which are hidden on interior of fairing, wiring is hidden, and comes with a wireless remote. The windscreen was tinted during the repaint with a “crackle” effect. It is extremely subtle, and is only noticeable in certain lights. I thought this was a cool custom touch.

Now mechanically the bike is superb. Fresh oil back in march, Honda spec with a Honda factory oil filter (roughly 100 miles on this oil). The engine coolant is new factory OEM, and was replaced at 10k miles. It has new EBC performance brake pads, less than 20 miles on them, which match the BRAND NEW Metzler Roadtec Z6 tires installed at the same time. New battery as of last summer and it was maintained on a charger all winter. The handle bars are converti-bar clip-ons, allowing for a very large amount of rider position customization very quickly. These have gel grips installed, and aftermarket folding and adjustable levers that are black on silver. The exhaust is also tastefully upgraded to a scorpion system. While louder then stock, I would not call it offensive of overtly loud. It has custom standoffs on the outboard sides of the cans, which protect the Nelson-Rig soft bags from the heat, which are also included in this sale. I will also include the factory tools that adjust the chain and rear shock. I can also supply a factory service manual with the bike if requested. According to the service intervals, the bike is good to go until 15,000 miles without any further maintenance. All recalls are up to date and have the updated VIN label to show it.

Now all this being said, there are signs of wear for a bike that is nearly 15 years old. The dash panel integration plastics don’t line up great anymore (see pics), and the gas cap has some scuffing. Under the locking cover the gas tank is still the factory red, since my paint shop stated that new paint would have trouble sticking in that area. You only see this when you fill it. The way I have adjusted the clip-ons does not allow for a full lock-to-lock turn. You could adjust them to your preference with only an Allen key.

So I know you will also ask, “Ethan, why are you selling this bike if there is nothing really wrong. This seems too good to be true” Well fact is I am moving on in life. I find myself only looking at this bike, not riding it and that’s a shame. I want to get a new car and selling this gets me space and a down payment. I have a clean and clear title in hand.

Bike is for sale locally in Detroit.

And it's goodbye from him

Tue, 17 Aug 2010

THIS IS Valentino Rossi's farewell letter to his Fiat Yamaha team following the announcement the flambouyant Italian is to head to Ducati MotoGP in 2011.The hand-written letter, mistakes and all, is written in almost a 'my first romance' kinda way. It's touching, if a little bizarre. Some of the letter reads:“Unfortunately even the most beautiful love stories finish, but they leave a lot of wonderful memories, like when my M1 and I kissed for the first time on the grass at Welkom, when she looked straight in my eyes and told me ‘I love you!'"Somehow, we can't see Casey Stoner gushing quite as freely when he leaves Ducati for Repsol Honda.

Ashley Fiolek Featured in Vogue Magazine

Thu, 22 Mar 2012

We can’t say for sure but this likely a first: a motocross racer featured in Vogue magazine. Fact-checking aside, we’re proud to report three-time Women’s Motocross Champion Ashley Fiolek will be the subject of a four-page feature in the upcoming April issue of the noted fashion magazine. The feature looks at how Fiolek finds success on the track while facing the challenge of being deaf in a sport where hearing is important.
