Honda CBX description

1979 Honda CBX.  100% stock bike.  All original.  I've owned the bike for 10 years.  During that time, I have completed a partial restoration.  Thus far, I have stripped the bike to the frame; re-sprayed the frame w/ DuPont Imron (black), nickel plated the swing arm, the rear brake reaction rod, both front and rear caliper assemblies.

Left  to accomplish is to repair the torn seat, remove a ding from the gas tank, re-spray the rear cowling behind the seat and clean up the aluminum castings that surround the engine.

The engine block is quite clean.  The "covers": clutch, alternator, valve covers, and crank end caps are all showing superficial corrosion.  They all need to be removed and refinished.

Exhaust pipes are original and in astonishingly good condition for their age.

Seat is torn, but the seat pan is very strong.  Re-upholstering will be needed.

Mechanically the bike runs very well.  The timing chain needs tightening and that is it.  The bike starts quickly and runs smoothly.  I'm riding it every week.  Tank paint is excellent.  Seat cowling paint is worn. Side covers are excellent.

I've attempted to show the bike in the photographs as it is.  From 5 feet back it looks gorgeous.  Closer than that and it begins to reveal its wisdom.  If the next owner is willing to invest a bit, the bike can become a concours piece.  A real show stopper!

Shipping will be at the buyers expense.  I will be happy to help with arrangements.  HaulBikes.com is an excellent motorcycle shipper.

Payment will be by cashiers check.  A deposit is not needed.  I must have the check in hand before loading the bike.

On Jun-13-16 at 08:22:30 PDT, seller added the following information:

An observant e-bayer has noted that this bike has an 85MPH speedo, which is not correct.  The 79-80 bikes had a 150MPH speedo.  Given that situation, the mileage indicated is not the true mileage for the bike.  True mileage is now unknown.

Honda RCV1000R MotoGP Production Racer Revealed

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

Honda Racing Corporation officially introduced its new RCV1000R production racer which will be sold to racing teams hoping to compete in MotoGP‘s new “Open” prototype class. The RCV1000R is based on Honda’s RC213V factory prototype, with the same chassis and a similar 90° V-4 engine claiming more than 234 hp at 16000 rpm. The key difference is the engine uses traditional spring valves whereas the valves on the RC213V are activated pneumatically.

Surely more wins are on the cards for Seeley and the 2011 Gixer?

Thu, 02 Jun 2011

The amazing Alex Lowes is deservedly grabbing all the attention in the BSB paddock at the moment, but I believe last year’s top Superbike rookie, Alistair Seeley is doing an equally impressive job in the Supersport class. Although he looks ten years younger, thirty one year old Seeley  is riding one of only two 2011 600 GSXRs (fellow countryman Marty Nutt is on the other) in the class. Alistair has finished on the podium four times including a race win at the opening Brand Hatch round and currently lies second in the championship.  He also took victory on the Gixer in the only race run at the North West 200 last month and was looking like the runaway winner last Sunday at Thruxton until electrical gremlins struck after opening up a seven second lead.
