Yamaha YZF-R tech info
Yamaha YZF-R description
This bike has been rebuilt from the ground up at 17800 miles and then had the last 1000 miles broke in. New crank shaft, journal bearings, rod bearings, clutch, starter, timing chain, and guides. The heads have been cleaned and inspected. New aftermarket shorty levers for comfort. Has vortex pegs for added comfort and grip for your feet. Low mileage on chain, spark plugs, and brakes. This bike won’t need anything done to it for another 3000 miles except the oil changed. Minor scrap on the rear left fairing. It runs like a dream and is fast as hell. I'm only selling it because of an injury that makes it no longer safe for me to ride. Please have insurance if you want to test ride before purchase. Otherwise I can ride it in front of you for a small distance to show you how it sounds, shifts, and runs. Asking $8000 obo. Text 858-722-2154 for any questions. Text 858-722-2154 for any questions. |

The short but sweet life of the Yamaha R7
Tue, 17 Jan 2012I was reunited with an old friend recently, my 1999 Virgin Yamaha R7 Superbike. By the end of 1998 I had won three straight BSB titles with the Yamaha YZF750, when main sponsor Cadbury’s pulled out leaving zero funds for a title defence. Wanting desperately to ride the new R7 and thinking a replacement backer would instantly get on board I turned down quite a few offers including a juicy contract from Crescent Suzuki (Paul Denning always enjoys reminding me).
"That's one small step for man..."
Fri, 02 Oct 2009TO CELEBRATE the 40th anniversary of man's first steps on the moon, Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo will wear an astronaut-style paint job on his helmet at this weekend's Portuguese GP. The Spaniard's lid has been sprayed to look a little like a spaceman's helmet and has Neil Armstrong's immortal words: "That's one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind" written on the rear. Let's just hope Lorenzo doesn't launch himself this weekend.
Ben Spies Signs Contract Extension with Yamaha
Wed, 08 Jun 2011Yamaha has signed Ben Spies to a one-year contract extension to continue racing on its MotoGP factory team in 2012. The extension comes after Spies, currently seventh in the Championship standings, recorded his first podium finish of the 2011 season, a third place result at Catalunya. Spies earned two other podium finishes in 2010 in his Rookie of the Year winning debut in the class with the Tech 3 satellite team.
