2013 AMA Superbike Daytona Race Report

The story leading up to the opening round of the 2013 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike season was whether anyone would be able to keep up with defending champion Josh Hayes. It’s not a million bucks but Justin Barcia was more than glad to accept the $100,000 prize for winning the second-annual Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium. The American Honda Muscle Milk rider won the second moto and second in the other two for the overall victory. The win was especially impressive considering the event marked Barcia’s debut in the 450 class.

Louisiana Bill Updates Maximum Handlebar Height Legislation

Louisiana state lawmakers have approved a bill that would change the maximum height of motorcycle handlebars. Current state law restricts handlebar height to no more than 15 inches above the seat, a somewhat arbitrary level, but a common choice with 17 other states. The House has voted 87-0 in favor of Senate Bill 582 to change the maximum height to the rider’s shoulder level, as measured while sitting on the seat.
