Suzuki RE5 description

"EXTREMELY COLLECTABLE"- Suzuki RE5, built between 1974-1976. This was Suzuki's technical flagship of that era, Suzuki spent 40 million dollars to design and produce a mere 6000 units world wide, only a handful made it to Canada. This is the first and last Japanese built, rotary engined motorcycle ever.
We acquired this motorcycle from a local dealer/collector who is dispersing his collection, and has owned this bike for over 10 years, kept in a dark dry warehouse.
Here is a great, honest survivor with only 13,916 miles. This motorcycle has the original paint, called Fire Mist blue. The bike appears to be original throughout with exception to a fuel petcock replacement, and tires which were probably replaced 20 years ago.We installed a new battery. All fluids are recently new, and there are no visible leaks anywhere. We had the bike running for several minutes and it runs excellent- no noises, just a lovely exhaust note. Clutch feels perfect as does the shifting. Front brakes will need some work to perform properly, the lever has no feel, even though there is fluid in the reservoir. All the lights on the dash and digital gear indicator work the way they should. The instrument cluster is missing the green plastic dome shaped cover which is commonly missing on these bikes, but can be found on ebay. Paint is in fantastic condition given its age, with a few nicks in the decals, and small scratches.Engine  alloys have normal oxidation, chrome is very good, frame, wheels, spokes, exhaust are in great condition, the heat shields on the exhaust are missing some of the small phillips screws that hold it in place. The wiring appears to be original and un molested. The seat looks like it's new ! Also comes with owners manual, service manual, parts catalogue and rotary engine book. Any questions or more pictures- feel free to contact email, jeff@globalvalue.ca
Deposit of $1000 required within 24hrs of sale completion; buyer responsible for shipping, however I will assist you the best I can to get this bike shipped to your home. Bike has a clean New Brunswick title. Thank you !

Tue, 07 Jun 2011

Suzuki has released a another teaser for its upcoming “Middle-class New Motorcycle”. We wrote about the previous teaser last week, speculating the new motorcycle is an updated Suzuki V-Strom, possibly a V-Strom 650 with a retuned version of the Gladius’ engine. A commenter named Steven suggested it might be a V-Strom 1000 instead.
