2006 KAWASAKI CONCOURS ZG1000, ####### LOCATED AT OUR NEWBURGH STORE! ######## 812-858-8160****************OCTOBER ONLY SALE*****************2006 Kawasaki ConcoursSPORTBIKE PERFORMANCE, TOURING COMFORTThe Concours motorcycle is designed for the sport-touring enthusiast who wants the engine and chassis performance of a sportbike, but demands the comfort and convenience necessary for those extended road trips that make life more interesting. As a true sport-tourer, the Concours handles twisty backroads as easily as it cruises the highway, thanks to a rigid chassis and 997cc liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine. The engine produces strong power throughout the rev range and a gear-driven counterbalancer smoothes vibration. The engine is matched to a six-speed transmission to keep the engine at a relaxed rpm at highway speeds.Of course, comfort is a high priority on the Concours. It features a triple-density foam saddle, which is deeply contoured to comfortably seat both the rider and passenger. A full fairing creates an aerodynamic envelope for two when riding in a relaxed, upright position. Two lockable bins are on either side of the fairing for added convenience. The Concours also features a 7.5-gallon fuel tank for long-distance touring, and locking luggage detaches with the flip of a latch for overnight trips. Plus, the smooth flowing lines of the Concours add an aesthetic touch, and special panels can be secured to the sides when the saddlebags and mounting brackets are removed.DIMENSIONSWEIGHT 595 lbs.WHEELBASE 61.2 in.SEAT HEIGHT 31.1 in.ENGINEENGINE 4-stroke, DOHC, Transverse in-line 4 cylinder, Liquid-cooled, 4-valve cylinder headDISPLACEMENT 997 ccBORE X STROKE 74.0 x 58.0 mmTORQUE 72.3 lb.-ft. @ 6,500 rpmCOMPRESSION RATIO 10.2:1CARBURETION Keihin CVK32 x 4FUEL CAPACITY 7.5 gal.IGNITION TCBI with Electronic advanceDRIVETRAINTRANSMISSION 6-speedFINAL DRIVE ShaftBRAKES/WHEELS/TIRESBRAKES Front: Dual disc with 2-piston calipersRear: Single discTIRES Front: 120/70 VR18Rear: 150/80 VR16OPERATIONALSUSPENSION Front: 41 mm Hydraulic telescopic fork with adjustable preload 5.5 in. travelRear: UNI-TRAK with Adjustable air pressure, 4-Way rebound damping 5.5 in. travelRAKE 28.5°TRAIL 4.8 in.Legal Notice: M

CHiPs Star Estrada is a Reserve Officer

Wed, 24 Dec 2008

The TV show CHiPs was what first got me interested in motorcycles. A young boy when the late 70′s show made its debut on the air, I thought it was extremely cool to be on the California Highway Patrol, but especially so while riding around on a Kawasaki 1000. Erik Estrada even had a cool name and car on the show, going by ‘Ponch’ and driving a Firebird.

Go camping with your bike

Keep your bike close to you when you go camping with the MOTOTENT from motorcycle adventurers Lone Rider. Priced at £450, here's a round-up of the features from Lone Rider: The MOTOTENT is spacious enough to shelter a dual sport bike as big a BMW R1200 GSA with all its luggage, to have room to work on it, and to be able to stand in the tent. The tunnel-shaped design allows a very quick setup of the tent when needed.
