Isle of Man TT 2013: Sure Sidecar Race 1 Results

The 2013 edition of the Isle of Man TT kicked off with the first of two scheduled three-lap Sure Sidecar races. The favorites going into the race were the DMR duo of Dave Molyneux and his passenger Patrick Farrance. Molyneux won both Sidecar races at last year’s event and is third overall in Isle of Man TT career race wins with 16.

Every year in the motorcycling world there are a few new motorcycles that gather the collective interest of enthusiasts across the country. This year those two models included the new entry-level sportbike from Honda, the CBR250R, and the new luxo-touring bike from BMW, the K1600GT and K1600GTL. Honda Project Leader Shunji Yokokawa's first Honda bike was a CB900, which he got when he was a teenager after seeing Freddie Spencer wheeling his way down the Laguna's Corkscrew.Yokokawa has been in the States himself recently, having travelled to the Bonneville Salt Flats to break a world land speed record for a stock 600cc motorcycle.According to the Southern California Timing Association website (you'd have thought the video might have mentioned something about the record?), Shunji was successful in his attempt during August's 'Speed Week', setting an official speed of 170.828mph onboard a CBR600RR.
