Honda Valkyrie description

My 2014 Honda Valkyrie Power Cruiser is Amazing.

It's the perfect blend of sport and cruise riding. This is not your daddy's valkyrie.

Don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with the first generation line of Valkyries.

If there is I must be a glutton for punishment having owned probably 40 of them overall.

A wonderful machine for sure.

The new Valkyrie starts with a different look...and I mean different.

I like it but I can see the traditionalist maybe being put off. Don't let the looks deter you.

You will be missing out on the ride of a lifetime.

The frame is super light and strong...it's an aluminum frame..usually reserved for high tech sports bikes.

It has a single sided swing arm as well with a single Honda Pro Link setup that you would usually find on a high tech sports bike.

And it handles as well as you could ask for a big heavy bike....it belies its size and weight.

Tracks like it's on rails and weaves through the twisties like a true sports bike.

The whole time providing you a comfortable primarily sitting up straight position with just a little bit of forward lean.

The bike is very comfortable.

That's the biggest difference to me between the old style and new Valkyries.

The new Valkyrie has handling that is much more confidence inspiring..more like a sporting bike.

And it's quicker too, although the older valks were certainly not slouches in the performance dept.

Power is AMAZING with about 115 bhp and about the same amount of torque available at the rear wheel.

When you twist the throttle on this baby YOU BETTER BE HOLDING ON.

And you better warn your passenger if you have one you're going to nail it

It could be really embarrassing to have to go back and pick them up off the pavement.

OH, AND THE GAS MILEAGE IS WAY BETTER ON THE NEW ONE EVEN THOUGH IT'S AN 1832CC INSTEAD OF THE 1500CC.

THE BEAUTY OF NEWER TECHNOLOGY. FUEL INJECTION ON THE NEW ONES VS 6 CARBURETORS ON THE OLDER VERSIONS.

And it's amazingly strong and fast with its dialed in 1832cc 6 cylinder engine.

It weighs in at about 180 lbs lighter than a gold wing. So it appropriately feels much stronger and faster and it is.

The color on my bike is a heavy Dark Red Metallic...gorgeous.

And my bike has a great (and expensive) Corbin Riding Seat with nice leather side bags and a great height adjustable windshield.

If you bought my bike new as it's set up you're probably looking at about $20500.

Tires are new as well. The bike has been impeccably maintained and it shows.

And there are only 7483 original miles on this beauty.

Barely broken in for the legendary Honda F6 motor.

Quick Impressions on the Honda NT700V

Thu, 01 Oct 2009

UPDATE:  Read the full review of the 2010 Honda NT700V now on Motorcycle.com It should be obvious, but one of the perks of being in the business of evaluating motorcycles is the opportunity to see and ride a huge variety of bikes. Recently, while returning a CRF230M to American Honda’s main offices I spotted the new-to-the-U.S. NT700V sitting amongst the gaggle of bikes set aside for the moto media.

Motorcycles at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show

Mon, 28 Sep 2009

Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.
