Harley-Davidson Touring description

2005 HARLEY-DAVIDSON, ROAD KING CLASSIC

Here we have a well-preserved 2005 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic in the elegant Smokey Gold and Black two-tone color scheme, plus some extra equipment to make it the perfect touring machine.  I'm selling it because it's become a burden to me as I get older and seldom use it

This motorcycle has been painstakingly looked after by a licensed Harley-Davidson mechanic, kept in a garage or in storage at all times, and generally coddled for its whole life.  It has Screaming Eagle mufflers, all genuine H-D accessories. In addition, I am including a luggage pack with netting,  this has removable soft leather saddlebags, for maximum touring security and convenience to bring right into wherever your lodging. Polished left and right rotor, Chrome folk slider covers, Chrome master cylinder, Chrome switch kit, chrome pull back handlebars, Chrome laced spoke wheels.

I also have a factory service and repair manual, A touring seat with detachable passenger backrest and luggage rack combo, and a backrest for the driver, with touring footrests on the crash bar, Smoke colored lenses, Electronic cruise control, Alarm, Battery tender, Helmets, Quick dethatch touring windshield, Windshield pouch to store glasses and gloves in, Electronic sequential port fuel injection, Air horn so you'll be heard!, Air adjustable rear shocks to taylor your ride to your load

Full disclosure: The battery and tires are new. Stainless steel braided cables are new. Oil was just changed, New hand grips. As you can tell by the super low mileage I don't get to ride it much otherwise I made certain that it's in good working order.

The motorcycle is kept in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Buyer is responsible for making arrangements to get it from there to wherever it's needed; I'm happy to help the shipper of choice get it packed up and taken away, and will provide secure packaging for the included accessories.  Local pick up is also welcomed

Payment should be by certified check; buyer may choose to use an escrow service, but assumes responsibility for associated costs.

To summarize: If you are the winning bidder on this auction, you will receive:

 - A one-owner 2005 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic with many improvements and fewer than 8,000 miles on it;
 - A canvas touring luggage
 - The owner's manual and factory service manual.

All receipts and original purchase order showing all accessories added for a total cost out the door of  $23,5595.85

All parts and accessories are genuine Harley-Davidson equipment.

The best part of summer and early fall are still to come, and this Harley is a mighty comfortable throne from which to rule it.  Bid early, bid often!

Vespa goes back to the future

Thu, 22 Nov 2012

IT'S been a while coming, but the gorgeous Vespa 946 - EICMA 2012's Best of Show - has finally introduced something to the two-wheeled world that our four-wheeled counterparts have had for a while.  I call this 'reverse retro-futurism' - the art of borrowing lines from models past and imbuing them with a sleek sense of future direction (as opposed to retro-futurism, the pre-1960s design trend of depicting the technology of the future. The term 'decopunk' may come close, but feel free to tell me if there's a more exact term.) It's what the New Mini and the New Beetle (both 1997 and 2012 versions) have done so well, and so successfully: building an all-new model as a tribute to a classic, something that's modern yet already timeless, with a widely-appreciated, inclusive aesthetic (and here we eliminate the Plymouth PT Cruiser from the conversation). The biking world is great at retro, indeed thrives on it, but not so good at adding in a taste of the 21st century.

The retired Shreffler once had plans to open a Harley-Davidson museum but has now decided to auction off his collection gathered from 48 years in the industry.

Twin-engine pulsejet motorcycle. As you do..

Mon, 21 Feb 2011

The guy behind this twin-engined pulsejet motorcycle, Robert 'Bob' Maddox, fascinates me. He's a cabinet maker by trade but is somewhat an expert in the field of pulsejet engineering and has built a whole host of machines powered by the ever so subtle jet engine. This latest bike is dubbed a Harley-Davidson Sportjet, although it has nothing to do with Milwaukee and I'm not sure why H-D made it onto the tank...
