Harley-Davidson Other description

2006 Harley-Davidson XL 1200R Sportster, Fast & Fun! - For decades, fun could best be defined as a potent engine sitting dead center in a strong, agile frame with nothing but miles of winding asphalt ahead. As long as we keep building and refining the Sportster, that definition will stay true. If you’ve never swung a leg over, you should. Once astride, twist the throttle and feel the V-Twin generate mounds of torque. It’s a satisfying rush that hits you right in the pit of your stomach. We rubber-mounted the engine to the frame for a more comfortable ride — no road is unfamiliar territory, no journey too far. And though riding a Sportster has always been a blast, we keep finding more ways to make things even more rider friendly. We redesigned the transmission so it shifts smoother. Take a quick trip through the gears and you’ll no doubt appreciate the near-effortless clutch. There’s also improved kickstand ergonomics — now the bike is easier to reach and lift. The pure American street machine just keeps getting better. In the saddle of a 1200 Roadster, any stretch of pavement is definitely the place to be. It’s always been that way. Maybe it’s the wrinkle black, 6,000-rpm redline Evolution powertrain with high-compression, high-flow heads and performance cams that make it so. Or maybe it’s the famed XL frame that makes each and every corner feel like bliss. Whichever it is, we dressed the 1200 Roadster up for any asphalt-eating occasion. Triple-disc brakes. Wide polished bar. Big side-by-side speedo and tach. Chrome headlight visor. Two-up seat. Staggered dual pipes. So what are you waiting for? Get in the saddle and start enjoying all of those places-to-be out there.

New Harley-Davidson Sportster for India to Use 500cc V-Twin

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

When Harley-Davidson first entered the Indian market, The Motor Company decided to import existing models as complete knockdown kits for final assembly in the burgeoning market. Considering the average motorcycle in India has a displacement smaller than 200cc, it was inevitable Harley-Davidson would eventually have to produce a small-displacement model rather than rely on its existing product line which currently lists the 883cc sportsters as its smallest bikes. Despite a denial last May by Harley-Davidson India’s Managing Director Anoop Prakash, it now appears Harley-Davidson is set to announce a new small-displacement model to be produced in India at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo next February.
