THE "CUB"

The Honda EZ90 was called the "Cub" and was sold from 1991 to 1996.

The design studios of all the major motorcycle manufacturers were trying to attract the youth market and create new bikes with a less antisocial image, oriented towards leisure activities rather than performance. Honda has been right out in front on this trend, both with its scooters and with its small motorcycles.

One of Honda's answers to this difficult challenge was the "Cub" launched in 1990 and produced from 1991 until 1996. Designed for off-road use only, lots of Cubs were used as pit bikes, even by Honda’s Champion Car and IRL teams, as well as runabouts strapped on the back of their RVs and campers and now today finding a collector status of preservation.

Elegant and lively, the Cub completely hides its mechanism under its plastic outer casing. It falls under the heading of "family bikes" lightweight machines exclusively intended for leisure pursuits, easy to ride, with automatic transmission and no age limit other than the size of the rider.

Not street legal in some countries, the Cub is nonetheless capable of amazing off-road performances. Excellent as a vacation mount, the Cub was principally intended for the American market, to be sold as an indispensable tender to large motor homes.  Honda unveiled a snow-bike version of the Cub, the "Ez-snow" at the Tokyo Salon in 1991. They replaced the front wheel with a steerable ski and fitted a rubber caterpillar track at the rear, it looked the part and it promised to be fun!

For this model year 1991, three colors were available: Shasta White, Pure Flandre Blue, and Fighting Red. The saddle, fork boots, front mudguards, and handle grips were blue. The "Cub" logo and stripe were red. The skid plate was metallic silver. The engine was a 2-stroke 90cc single cylinder with a reed valve, has a 2 speed automatic transmission and the serial number began JH2HE060.

As for this particular Honda Cub being sold, it is the first year made and actually one of the earlier bikes built. This Cub was built in February 1990 making it one of the earlier Cubs in production. This Honda Cub is a good clean running bike with a 2 speed automatic transmission, good working brakes and easy throttle response that makes it very easy and fun to ride. Turn the key on, push a button and it starts right up.

The title history is 100% clear with the DMV. There is no actual hand held title with the bike, it was used as a pit bike and then as a camper/collector piece with the 2nd owner. If one wanted to actually title the bike and use it at a County Recreational Area or BLM land then it can be titled thru your local DMV. The office of DMV only needs a 'Bill of Sale' from the purchase, a form filled out called 'Diligent Effort Process' stating the value and where it was purchased and then bring it to your local DMV station so they can do a Vin verification and there they will issue you a title just like registering a car.

As for the mileage, there is no way to tell the actual mileage so we just put '10' in the space provided for mileage. I did hear from the previous owner who was a Santa Clara County Police officer, that he owned it for 6+ years and that the person before, he said he rode professional motocross who bought it as a pit bike and it was barely used, only for pit transport? unconfirmed history but that is the remembered story.

This is a good clean running bike, starts right up and is very user friendly. The seat sits about 29 inches from the ground and the seat saddle is about 19 inches to the pegs. Grips and hand controls are very easy to reach with front and rear brakes easy to use. Visible and easy to read there is an 'On / Off' switch along with a 'START' button on the handlebars. Regular fuel goes into the gas tank and below the seat is an injector pre-mix tank that you just fill up after every tank of gas. Other then that, the bike is simple, making it very easy and fun to ride.

Below are some stats listed about the Cub with as much condition description I could think of. Please feel free to ask any questions and or request any pictures if you have any certain questions that I didn't mention or photo?
