This is an excellent condition 1973 Kawasaki H1 Triple with the original numbers matching engine serial number range. It is a true survivor and has never been restored, but has been upgraded with newer parts as well as performance parts. It is in as good of condition as the brand new H1s and H2s I assembled new out of the box myself and owned and operated were after about 5-7 years of riding them back in the good ole days. That says a lot right there.

It is not perfect but it is extremely nice and well preserved. It was stored inside a climate controlled building for its entire life according to the previous owner and to look at it I certainly believe it.

This bike cannot be compared in any other way than as a higher end benchmark to the other rolling projects commonly seen up for sale as Kawasaki Triples. Most of those bikes I wouldn't even try to ride with the typically seen obsolete style ancient date coded tires, destroyed steering head bearings, sketchy engines and gearboxes, blown out shocks and forks, worn suspension pivots, etc. Bikes like that are not safe or enjoyable to ride and don't make sense financially if you are going to have to buy the bike again in the cost of parts to make it decent.

This bike tracks true, handles, brakes, can be leaned over and will stay set in a turn at speed, shifts perfectly, screams and has plenty of power. Consequently I will not sell it for a price anywhere near the range of the ones that need tons of work, so let's be reasonable in the offers and bids

The picture to the left is a good representation of the paint tone - the ones showing the right side of the bike are in the sun and appear a little lighter. The paint is strong and shows nicely in person

The Denco pipes are original vintage pieces, not reproductions, and have the original paint on them. They are in excellent shape with only minor finish wear and a couple tiny dings - no dents or crash damage.

The paint looks to be original although it is possible the tank is a repaint, but if it is it is done very well - paint stripes - no decals.

A brief list of some of the parts and money that has been put into this bike -

This bike has already had the thousands of dollars spent on it that you will have to spend on any of the cheaper ones to make them decent.

The bike looks excellent. Period.

Brand new vintage sportbike specific tires with good balance and wheel true - filled with Nitrogen. You can see the new paint stripe and nubs on the tires - they are new with only a few miles on them. Bridgestone Spitfires front and rear

The engine is conservatively jetted for 400- 800 feet above see level. Two stage UNI Filters with velocity stacks on the carbs. New fuel lines and injector lines.

Bike starts on one kick warm every time. Idles immediately cold or warm. Has extremely good top end power that just builds and no flats spots inside the typical realm of the Kawasaki H1 Triple

The bike has Z1R bars on it with Driven Racing bar ends and a cafe race style mirror - if you don't like the mirror it can be easily removed and a bar end installed

Many of the bikes like this seen for sale as restored examples are rescued field bikes or 'barn finds' that have been blasted and repainted and bashed together with parts from numerous donor bikes - NOT THIS ONE! This is a true survivor

I have a link to an H1 that just sold a few days ago for $10,000.00 - closed sale. I have seen several sales recently of ones that have sold in the $5-6500 range and total POS's that have sold in the $3-4K range - any bike that you will need to sink another few thousand bucks in right off the bat is probably not a very smart deal because many of the commonly needed parts are hard to find and expensive - this one needs nothing

It is state inspected, licensed and insured and gets ridden so you know it is turn key ready to go and not just a rolling project like most of them for sale

Everything works, blinkers, horn lights, brake switches, etc.

Speedometer is very accurate when tested against GPS - instrument faces look outstanding

The engine cases are pretty darn clean as well as the jugs and heads. Not perfect, but better than most. The anodizing is polished off the cases like every other one you see that is up for sale and still shiny 40 years later, but the correct satin look is present and it compares to the finish on other NOS parts at a glance. No rash or crash damage, but a slight mark from the rear brake control arc like many of them. The Kawasaki lettering has not been removed for over polishing or crash damage repair like many seen for sale.

Frame still has original paint - you can see the original helmet hook decals - original tool kit, spark plug holder and riders handbook

Rubber hold down still on the spark plug holder

Inside the tank is clean

The following videos are guaranteed to be of the exact same bike that is for sale in this listing. They were shot Oct 10 2013 and are video proof of operation and demonstrate how the machine performs. These Kawasaki Triples are the type of motorcycles that were likely operated by their owners at wide open throttle, probably every single time they were ridden, through as many gears as the road would allow, from most stops and through most turns and down most straight aways. Think about that for a minute when you are buying one. Most of them out there I wouldn't even try to ride down the street in the condition they are most commonly seen in. The well preserved examples and restored at great expense versions of these bikes are few and far between. Very rare to even find let alone up for sale - this is all factored in on the reserve price of this machine and it is well worth every penny - have a look....

Video demonstrates that even with Denco expansion chambers, tuning and other modifications this bike starts on one kick every time when warm - usually only 3 or so kicks cold from the first opening of the fuel petcock

Notice, as the following videos will demonstrate, very little to no smoke at all out the pipes during all of the phases of operation - this bike is running on factory oil injection, not premix

  XXXX

Here is the bike on run up thru the first 3 gears - easily spinning up with a 250 pound rider

Notice positive solid clutch engagement - zero slippage, RPMs continue building with no flat spots, no smoke trail, no gearbox issues whatsoever, no slappy wobbles on the upshifts even though front wheel was popping up

XXXX

The H1 on the draw with a couple throttle blip downshifts - no smoke trail with high draw operation, easy downshifts with solid gearbox engagement

XXXX

On the run up to the beginning of 4th gear - revs start between 3-4 seconds on the video counter from about a 3 mph roll and end at 10 seconds entering 4th gear - this bike finishes the standing quarter mile in 4th - you do the math

No smoke screen on hard acceleration ;-)

XXXX

H1 on the draw demonstrating solid gearbox engagement that doesn't pop out, and the rider was hands off for a good part of the down hill to demonstrate tapered steering head bearing modification stability, although it doesn't resolve in the video. Also, again for the 5th time in a row, fully at operating temperature, no smoke trail
