BMW Other description
2004 Bmw R 1200 C Montauk, Hard to Find, Easy to Love the BMW Montauk! - Masters the mountains. Rolls on the range. Whether cutting through mountain gaps or rolling along open plains, the new BMW Montauk was built for long rides through big sky country. Packed full of torque (72 lb/ft), its got ample energy to ascend winding mountain roads and an updated 5-speed gearbox to keep the miles rolling by smoothly. The new Montauk also features BMW’s two spark ignition system, an advancement that improves exhaust emissions, fuel consumption and response, setting a new benchmark for cruiser performance. Stylistically, the Montauk retains the clean, elegant lines of the classic R 1200 C but with a few extras to give it a presence all its own. Complementing the purity of the open design, the Montauk features a more relaxed riding position. This extends riding comfort on long stretches of road. Like its touring cousin the R 1200 CL, the Montauk takes a broader stance with a widened BMW Telelever suspension up front and vertically arranged dual headlights. The new Montauk looks equally imposing from the side. A higher, narrower passenger seat and redesigned side cover give the Montauk a powerful profile. For riders with a pioneering spirit and an appreciation for the updated aesthetic of the classic cruiser style, the Montauk provides an exciting, memorable journey.

Hi-Def video of BMW S1000RR on the dyno
Mon, 15 Mar 2010THERE'S SOMETHING rather cruel about ringing the nuts out of any bike on a dyno - a bit like poking a lion through the bars of a cage with a long stick... Anyway, not quite sure where I'm going with that one, so here's a rather lovely clip of BMW's much-lauded S1000RR getting a stationary pasting on a dyno. Not sure I'd be standing at the rear, mind you.
European Parliament Makes ABS Mandatory, Tighten Emissions Standards by 2016
Wed, 21 Nov 2012The European Parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of new rules that would increase emission standards and make anti-lock braking systems mandatory for all new large motorcycles, scooters and trikes and quads by 2016. The new regulations, which would still need approval from European Union member states, may only directly affect Europe, but they will have a wide-reaching affect on manufacturers’ product development for other markets. BMW, for example, has already made ABS standard for all its motorcycles for 2013.
