2003 BMW F650GS, *New arrival* This is a very nice low suspension F650GS with only 9,850 miles. In addition to the factory ABS and low suspension this bike also has a standard seat (along with the low seat), a Kouba lowering link BMW engine bars and BMW expandable side cases. Prior to trading the bike in the previous owner elected to complete a 12,000 mile service. We need to complete a safety inspection but we don't expect to find issues with this machine. European Parliament Makes ABS Mandatory, Tighten Emissions Standards by 2016

The European Parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of new rules that would increase emission standards and make anti-lock braking systems mandatory for all new large motorcycles, scooters and trikes and quads by 2016. The new regulations, which would still need approval from European Union member states, may only directly affect Europe, but they will have a wide-reaching affect on manufacturers’ product development for other markets. BMW, for example, has already made ABS standard for all its motorcycles for 2013.

British Moto-Journalist Kevin Ash Dies at 2013 BMW R1200GS Press Launch

(Updated with a message written by Kevin Ash’s oldest daughter, posted on the header of his blog AshOnBikes.) Respected British motorcycle journalist Kevin Ash has died following an accident at a BMW press launch in South Africa for the R1200GS. Ash was a long-time columnist at the U.K.’s MCN as well as the founder of British magazine Fast Bikes. Ash was also a popular freelancer, most notably as the regular motorcycle correspondent for the British newspaper the Daily Telegraph.

BMW Design Chief David Robb Steps Down; Edgar Heinrich Named Successor

David Robb, the man responsible for BMW‘s split-face motorcycle design, has left the German manufacturer. A native of Boston, Mass., Robb joined BMW as its design chief in 1993, and over the ensuing 18 years expanded the company’s product line to include the top selling R1200GS, the six-cylinder K1600GT and GTL, and the S1000RR superbike (that’s him on the far right in the picture above). The 56-year-old’s latest design to enter production are the C600 Sport and C650GT maxi-scooters.
