Yamaha XS description
Up for sale is my 1977 Yamaha XS650 Motorcycle Hardtail Bobber with springer front end. I bought this recently on eBay and had it shipped to California. Unfortunately it was shipped not running. Since purchase I bought BRAND NEW battery, coil, ignition wires, spark plugs, fuel filters and gave it a oil change and carb clean. And with a little patience and knowledge of older bikes, I got the bike running. She could use a little timing adjustment, but she purrs like a kitten when idling. Under load she hesitates a bit but once the RPM's are up she rides well and shifts well. She's loud too which I like. Now that being said she is not without fault, and anyone who purchases should know a little something about older bikes. Points, periodic carb cleaing, general maintenance, so on and so forth. She has a slight oil leak left side cylinder, that doesn't show up all the time (probably the gasket) $13.00 bucks at mikesxs. Doesn't happen all the time, but I thought I'd mention it. I would also change the throttle cable soon too, that can found on eBay and Mikesxs. I have been as honest as possible and I will answer any questions to the best of my knowledge. Now as far as the title is concerned I did not get it inspected at CHP but the DMV fees ($180) are paid in California. That being said if someone buys it from CA it is up to them to have it inspected and they are purchasing as-is. New owner takes the responsibility of getting it titled. CHP needs to verify the VIN I just dont have the time and to be honest I have moved on to another project. I am going to take a hit on this financially, truly my loss is your gain. There is over $5K with the new parts, DMV fees and shipping to CA. PLEASE LOOK AT MY PRICE, DONT ASK ME TO GO LOWER. Please feel free to ask questions I will answer them immediately. Thanks for looking. - I will not deliver, pick-up or shipping is up to the buyer. IN CASE ANYONE IS WONDERING THE BIKE DOES HAVE A CLEAR TITLE, JUST NOT IN CALIFORNIA.
A deposit of $500 is due within 24hrs and the balance in full 7 days of auction close or you will forfeit your deposit.

Filling a void with an RD350LC
Mon, 29 Jul 2013Last winter I managed to fill a void in my life when I stumbled on a very reasonably priced Yamaha RD350LC. It was a tad scruffy, had the wrong exhausts but most importantly it was blue and white with all numbers matching. I had the usual euphoria when the deal was done but I underestimated how much pleasure this particular purchase would continue to deliver another eight months down the line. The difference with this old bike is, instead of just taking it for the occasional ride I was talked into doing a full nut and bolt restoration. Having never taking a bike apart completely before, initially it was quite daunting but I soon found the RD is easy to work on so it turned into a truly satisfying experience. I’ve had some help from LC enthusiasts with the rebuild, however, the stripping, sourcing and organising was a total labour of love. And call me sad but it has made me bond with this bike like no other which only adds to the feel good factor. The bike cost £1800 and I’ve spent around £1000 but I reckon my mint Elsie is now worth a fair bit more. I fancy rejuvenating a Fizzy next time but there’s lots of other cheap 70’s and 80’s winter projects out there so why not have a go yourself?
How to murder an HP2 Sport
Mon, 08 Oct 2012Some bikes and cars should be left entirely stock; left unchanged from the way the factory intended them to be. In purchasing them you should understand that. I could produce a list of vehicles that should be taken off the owner if they modified them in any way but I'll save you the boredom.
