Vincent All description

This auction is for one high quality, made in England, faithful reproduction of the Miller dip-switch with the  "lighthouse" logo. The poorly made foreign  copies with a pressed steel domed cover are not even close to looking like the correct type that I now have available.  The modern material used has the look and feel of the original Bakelite but without the problems & issues associated with the originals. Made with great care & pride in England,

made in small batches, so only a limited quantity are available.

This style (D/2) is also fitted to some other high quality British motorcycles from the 1950s which used Miller electrics, such as Velocette & Douglas.

I believe that the Miller 'Lighthouse' Bakelite dip switch was fitted to post-war Vincents up to about 1953.

If correct, than this would make it suitable for Series B and many Series C Rapides, Black Shadows, Comets & Meteors.

Be sure & check your parts book to be sure this is correct for your machine.

Domestic orders will be shipped USPS Priority flat rate, with insurance for the full value of this item.

Payment is due within 24 hours of the auction end.

Foreign deliveries in some countries may take months to arrive, depending on your postal system. Please let me know if you are having a delay in getting your item, but be aware that I have no control of your package once it leaves my hands. The insurance I purchase on the package is only good while the package is in the USA, after that, I can not help.

The World Endurance Championship Starts This Weekend

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

Endurance racing is perhaps the ultimate test of both man and machine. In the past, teams would pace themselves in order to rest both elements enough to make a final push at the end. These days, however, motorcycles are more reliable than ever, and riders train like triathletes.

Expected to sell for approximately $96,000 to $112,000, the Japanese works Grand Prix racer is one of only two machines built by the factory for the French Kawasaki importer SIDEMM for use in the 500cc World Championship. The bikes were ridden during the 1974 season by the French endurance racing specialist Christian Léon and French-Canadian Formula 750 star Yvon Duhamel.

Behind the “Bathing Suit” Picture

Fri, 09 Jan 2009

Few motorcycle photographs are as iconic as that of the famous Bonneville “Bathing Suit Picture.” While you have undoubtedly seen this image before, you may not know the story behind it. The scantily clad and debatably crazy rider was a man by the name of Roland “Rollie” Free. The bike, often thought by many to be a Vincent Black Shadow, was in fact a Black Lightning – the fastest Vincent ever to see production.
