Doriano Romboni Killed in Simoncelli Memorial Benefit Race

Retired Grand Prix racer Doriano Romboni suffered fatal injuries in a crash during practice for benefit race in memory of Marco Simoncelli. Romboni, 44, reportedly lost control during the second practice session at the second-annual Sic Supermoto Day, running into the grass before swerving back onto the track and into the path of Gianluca Vizziello. Romboni was air-lifted to Santa Maria Goretti hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

A notice to any potential law breakers out there: Victory is getting in on the police bike business. Using stock Cross Country models modified with only lights and sirens, the Victorys may not be as ill-equipped for chases (at least slow speed, parking lot chases) as you might think. WSBK 2013: Nurburgring Race Report

Tom Sykes has taken over the lead in the 2013 World Superbike Championship standings after splitting race victories with Chaz Davies at Germany’s Nurburgring circuit. Both races ended prematurely however with red flags during the final laps. Pata Honda‘s Jonathan Rea and FIXI Crescent Suzuki‘s Leon Camier both crashed on the 18th lap of Race One after running into oil spilled on the track from Pedercini Kawasaki racer Federico Sandi‘s ZX-10R.
