Suzuki gt550 description

A nice survivor Suzuki GT550 with that great unmistakable sound of the two stroke.  This was the last production year of the iconic model.  Starts and runs well.  Chrome is in great shape including all 4 exhaust pipes.  Paint has normal wear and tear of a 40 year old bike, with a small shallow dent on right side.  Transmission is sometimes finicky to shift, but not bothersome enough to investigate further.  The CCI oil injection system could be readjusted by someone more knowledgeable than I to optimize proper flow and minimize the characteristic 2 stroke smoke. The digital gear position (1977 LED's) don't always display properly.   Haven't seen a nicer example in a long time - while not perfect it sure is a great classic in nice driver shape.  Last licensed for the road in 2013.  Just no time to ride and it's a shame to see this one sit and not enjoyed.

Bike is sold as is with no warranty express or implied.  Please feel free to ask questions or better yet, inspect in person.

Bike is in Ontario Canada.  Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder.  Willing to assist your shipper in loading.

WSBK 2013: Portimao Race Report

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty split a pair of victories at Portugal’s Portimao circuit while Sylvain Guintoli took advantage of some misfortune to his championship rivals to increase his lead in the 2013 World Superbike Championship standings. Guintoli has been leading or sharing the lead in the championship since winning the first race of Round 1 in Australia, but amazingly continues to lead despite having just that single victory after six rounds. The Aprilia rider has accomplished this through his consistency (Guintoli leads all racers with nine podium finishes in 12 races) and ability to finish each race (he’s the only rider in the top seven without a DNF).

Isle of Man TT 2014: Monster Supersport TT 1 Results

Mon, 02 Jun 2014

Gary Johnson narrowly beat out Bruce Anstey to take the first of two Supersport races at the 2014 Isle of Man TT. Riding the Daytona 675, Johnson’s win was the first for Triumph since 2003, ironically, with Anstey taking the victory that year in the Junior 600cc class. The race started three hours behind schedule due to fog, but once it began it quickly became a duel between Johnson and Anstey.

Suzuki Reports Q3 2013-2014 Sales Results

Fri, 07 Feb 2014

Suzuki reported a 13.1% decrease in motorcycle sales volume over the first three quarters of its 2013-2014 fiscal year, but still managed a 17.8% increase in net sales from its motorcycle division. That may seem like a paradox, but the results can be explained by a more favorable exchange rate for the Japanese yen and by looking closer at where those sales decreases took place. The yen has turned around significantly over the last year and a half, vastly improving how foreign sales affect Suzuki’s bottom line.
