Description: I loved building and riding this bike between 2011-2015, and it has been parked indoors for more than a year as I've been too busy to ride it and didn't insure it. Fires right up each time I've pulled it out, either with the electric start or kick. Runs strong, turns a lot of heads, and I'll be sad to see it go!
  • rear LTD "droop" frame cut off, custom fabricated flat seat frame
  • custom fiberglass seat shell
  • shortened stock harness with all electrical inside seat shell and bottom seat pan
  • stripped stock KZ tank and painted deep metallic blue & matte clear, and color matched shortened front fender, headlight and seat
  • aluminum & steel clip-on handlebars with internal wiring, shortened throttle cable and custom braided brake line
  • R1 style adjustable levers with brake fluid reservoir
  • dry cell Lithium Iron battery is inside the leather bag under the seat
  • 2-1 header + cherry bomb muffler, exhaust wrap
  • air pod filters and rejetted carb needles
  • engine covers stripped and matte clear, stainless hardware
  • 5" headlight with color matched housing and brushed ring, added LED light ring
  • Aluminum taillight with plate light, custom aluminum plate mount
  • brushed silver mini turn signals front and rear
  • gauges removed, added wireless mini bicycle speedometer on handlebar
  • repainted original alloy wheels with low mileage on Bridgestone tires
  • lowered front end, relocated ignition to top triple clamp
Other notes: The style of this build would be considered "cafe racer" or "brat" and is done intentionally with a rough look. It was not intended as a restoration or to be a "perfect" KZ400, and as such there are scratches here and there on the frame, road chips on the forks, and none of the metal is polished, but rather brushed and matte. There is also an unfortunate small crack in the seat shell from mis-handling it, not from ride weight or use, and it won't effect the use of the seat or bike.

Located in St. Catharines, ON, CANADA – buyer is responsible for pickup/transport. US buyers I am happy to deliver the bike to the border @ Niagara Falls or Fort Erie (Buffalo).

I am also selling it locally, and reserve the right to end this auction if it sells outside eBay.

Winning bidder: Deposit of US $500.00 within 24 hours of auction close, full payment within 7 days.

Schoolboy Heroes

Fri, 04 Mar 2011

A wet and grey day in Calais in 1992 wouldn’t be the obvious situation for a life changing experience, but for a 11 year old lad on a boring booze cruise from Dover this is exactly what happened. Pockets bulging with funny money I headed to the Tabac for the obligatory bangers, dirty playing cards and some sweets.  Then it happened, I stood in front of the magazine rack and reached up, as if drawn by an external force.  At the time I wasn’t tall enough for Playboy or L’ Escort so settled for a copy of Moto Verte, the French motocross mag.  Life would never be the same again. Inside there was a double page spread, with a fresh faced Jeremy McGrath resting a leg over his #15 Honda CR125.  Sporting a pair of fluro MX trousers with a, now retro, bright white surname emblazoned jersey, and casting an eye over a seriously vast motocross park.  I stared at this Sinisalo advert all the way home, partly because all the articles were in foreign, but also because I was transfixed.  What and how do I become a motocross champion?

Kawasaki Donates Motorcycle In Support Of Ocean Conservation

Thu, 14 Aug 2014

Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. announced recently that it will donate a Ninja 650 sportbike for auction at the Oceana SeaChange Summer Party, attended by some of the largest supporters of Ocean Conservation in Hollywood including Ted Danson, Sheryl Crow and this year’s special guest, Leonardo DiCaprio. Proceeds from the auction of the Ninja 650 will go to Oceana’s mission of ocean conservation, a shared goal by Kawasaki who’s global mission is “working as one for the good of the planet.”  Some of Oceana’s victories include protecting Sperm Whales from California Fisheries, upholding Shark fin bans in the United States and many other policy victories for marine life and habitats in more than 150 countries.
