Indian Motorcycle today released the schedule and additional details of one of the most highly anticipated motorcycling events in decades —the debut of the all-new 2014 Indian Chief.  Two and a half years in the making, the reveal will be a thrilling inauguration to the 73rd Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.  Today’s news follows the company’s announcement that the 2014 Chief, powered by the new Thunder Stroke 111 engine, will start at $18,999. Hero MotoCorp Forms Joint Venture with Magneti Marelli

Indian manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is teaming up with electronic fuel injection expert Magneti Marelli in a new joint venture. Hero will hold a 60% share in the company with Magenti Marelli controlling the other 40%. The two companies are initially investing a combined US$8.5 million into the joint venture, with a planned  investment of US$27 million total over the next ten years.

Polaris Reports Q2 2014 Sales Results

The relaunch of Indian Motorcycles continues to be a resounding success for Polaris Industries, helping the company report a 107% increase in second quarter revenue from motorcycle sales. Polaris reported revenues of $103.1 million in the quarter ended June 30, more than double the $49.9 million in revenue reported over  the same quarter last year. Polaris continues to see strong demand for Indian, which relaunched last summer, while demand for Victory decreased by the mid-single digits.
