Honda XR description

This is a 2004, the last year this fantastic bike was made.  By 2004, all the minor bugs of the early ones (1996-1998 )  were worked out.  This includes larger counter shaft, kick shaft, etc.

Our best estimate is that the bike has approximately 10 hours on it. This is one of those dreamed-about classic bikes from a time capsule.

Although I never rode the bike, I jumped through all the hoops to obtain a street legal title, same as a street bike or dual-sport.

It has the original tires so it would need DOT tires before riding on the street (turn signals not required in Colorado). Probably also would need a mirror and horn, depending on your state.  It has the hydraulic brake light actuator installed (see photo).

Tank decal is perfect on left side, has slight bubbling and tear on right side. The original rear tire still has the shallow center groove  very visible.  Front tire original and looks like new.   The chain slider looks nearly new (see photos). Bike has some minor marks from being ridden a couple of times before the previous owner decided it was too big.

Bike is completely stock except for being jetted for 8000'. I have an identical 04 XR400R that I ride and bought this one because is was such a rare specimen.

It is a practically new example of Colorado's most reliable trail bike. It starts very easy and runs like the day it rolled off the showroom floor. This is a bike you can ride for ten years before it needs more than an oil change. Nice XR400's a sought after and are being used up. Very few of these in captivity any more.

Only reason for selling is I have another XR400  with more hours on it but which will last me a lifetime.

Buyer pays all shipping but I will deliver to the shipper to save cost.

The 2014 edition of the LA Calendar Motorcycle Show continued its now 23-year tradition as the premier outdoor streetbike event in America with producer photographer Jim Gianatsis moving the show this year to the beautiful green lawns of the Malibu Golf Course among the twisty canyon roads in the Santa Monica Mountains alongside the Pacific Ocean. Highlighting this year’s exciting activities was the emergence of another new and soon to be renown custom bike builder to the sport for which the Calendar Show is known for cultivating. Taking Best of Show in this year’s Calendar Bike Building Championship was Calin Senciac’s Imagine Vehicles International / ImagineVehicles.com motorsports fabrication shop with an incredible custom billet aluminum designed chassis built by Terry Ward and the shop crew, housing a legendary 1979 Honda CBX 1047cc air-cooled in-line 6-cylinder engine.

So that's why he's called RANDY de Puniet

Tue, 20 Jul 2010

RANDY de Puniet may well have just been ejected from his LCR Honda RC212V MotoGP racer during qualifying for Sunday's Sachsenring GP but that ain't gonna stop him from bringing one of the company perks with him to Dr Costa's on-circuit surgery. The Frenchman crashed during qualifying after hitting oil and water spilled on track by Jorge Lorenzo's Fiat Yamaha, after it spewed its guts along almost the entire length of the start finished straight. Following the crash De Puniet was whisked away on a stretcher with a suspected broken foot.
