Honda XL250S description

This is an auction. Please only bid if you want to own this bike. Please do not bid if even the smallest chance exists that you may change your mind, or discover that you really don't have the money or you had a few beers and it sounded like a  really good idea at 2 in the morning. I shouldn't have to qualify any of this, but eBay does not have a suitable disciplinary action for time wasters and bidders who don't follow through.  Be respectful of my time, and the others who have honorable intentions with this auction. Read the entire description and bid with absolute confidence. Ask any questions along the way.  Thank you.
This is a very nice and original 1978 Honda XL250s. The odometer is correct, this bike has only covered 2860 miles since new. As a result, the bike is in excellent condition for the age and mileage. Please look at the pictures and video. This bike has been owned between myself and 3 of my close friends. We have all had our turn at owning it, with titles in our names. We have history with this bike dating back almost 10 years. We purchased the bike with only 1400 miles on it, and have ridden it sparingly since. It sits mostly, and sat among our collection of bikes for many years. I have taken it camping and have ridden my children and the nieces and nephews all over camp grounds around CA. I have taught many people to ride on this bike, as it is so easy to handle and its light weight makes it very forgiving. It has always been a very reliable bike. It will sit for months at a time and will start very easily from cold. It shifts and brakes very well. All electrics work as they should, even without the battery. The current battery installed has been there for years and has probably died years ago, but this Honda starts and runs perfectly. Please look at the pictures. The Yokohama tires have almost 100% tread left, but have checking on the side walls from age. They are still very soft and pliable. I have also shown the right side of the tank that sustained damage at some point before we owned the bike. It was repaired, or an attempt was made to repair it. Not so well done, but still the tank is solid and rust-free. Also, the right side cover has warped a bit from the heat of the stock exhaust system that is routed right behind it. I might have the battery cover somewhere in my shop. I will look for it, but can't promise it will turn up. I will be uploading a video very soon that demonstrates the ease of a cold start.
I can store the bike for an agreed upon amount of time, as long as it has been paid in full per the auction terms. I will work with your shipper in any way I can. Just ask. All paperwork, including registration is current and in my name. Ready for a new owner.
I would like an email response as soon as you know you have won the auction, to confirm your purchase and get dialog started on the payment/shipping. This bike will be paid in full 5 days from the auctions end. I'd prefer a $300 non-refundable deposit within 24 hrs. I will accept cash in person, or a cashiers check for the balance, which will be subject to my banks hold time to confirm funds. The Gilera will not leave until all funds are verified.

Lorenzo Wants to Race at Assen Despite Breaking Collarbone in Three Places

Fri, 28 Jun 2013

Jorge Lorenzo underwent two hours of surgery earlier this morning in Barcelona, Spain, to insert eight screws and a titanium plate to secure his fractured collarbone. By the afternoon, the Yamaha rider was back in the Netherlands to prove he is healthy enough to race in tomorrow’s TT Assen. The reigning MotoGP champion broke his collarbone in three places after high-siding in a wet practice session Thursday.

Remember push starts?

Fri, 18 Nov 2011

Alongside the most stunning collection of race and road bikes at their Motegi museum, next to some race bikes, Honda also has a step by step guide on most aspects of riding. I photographed the wonderful text on push starting but I also have lots of equally hilarious instructions on cornering braking and even what a riders goal should be. Watch this space...... oh, and hopefully see you at the NEC over the next ten days!
