Honda CT description

We have had this minibike in the family for around a decade or more, and it has been in storage inside a shed or garage for the majority of that time. Since we’ve had it,  we have occasionally started it up and drove it around a little at our family cabin, and my dad has taken it with him on RV trips to scoot around on while camped at RV parks. I’m told (by my uncle and dad) that it’s never been any real trouble to start and run just like it’s supposed to, or had any major mechanical problems since we’ve owned it.

My uncle gave it to me a month or so ago, with the intent that we would sell it and use the money towards another family project, and I put it in my garage and haven’t messed with it AT ALL until today. I took it out, wiped it down with a rag, inserted the key and gave the starter a kick.  The motor started and ran for about 30 seconds on the first kick. I was amazed! Then the thing wouldn’t start for about 5 more kick-starts, I smelt gas like I’d flooded it and had forgot to switch off the choke so I quit messing with it. I assume it could probably just use some fresh gas, or fuel filter at most to run fine, it’s just been sitting for a long time and needs some TLC. It has a small battery, which I assume needs a charge if not replaced, but I’m not sure how necessary it is since the thing started with the kickstarter just fine.- but I’m not exactly a mini-bike aficionado.

There is some cosmetic damage to the front headlight, The seat cover has some rot/damage (replacements on E-bay for about $30) and the rubber on the throttle grip is coming off (all pictured).  Pretty typical stuff for a bike this old I’d assume. We’ve always been able to get this thing running with little effort when we’ve wanted to, and It seems to me like a prime candidate for restoration.

Bike has 1400 miles on it. I have the clear title, as well as the owner’s manual and several receipts dating back to the original purchase, and multiple keys for the bike. E-mail with questions, I’ll do what I can to answer them.

XXXXXXX PAYMENT:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I prefer to be paid in full using Paypal immediately. (If you don’t have Paypal, you probably shouldn’t be buying stuff on E-bay.) I’m willing to work a non-refundable deposit scenario ending with a full payment within 14 days on a case-by-case basis with the terms/details discussed and agreed upon PRIOR TO BIDDING.  I’d prefer the buyer make haste to pick up this item by October 24 (about two weeks) , But I am willing to stretch that date on a case-by-case basis with the terms/details discussed and agreed upon PRIOR TO BIDDING.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you have not contacted me and made specific payment or pickup arrangements or terms prior to bidding, this item will be relisted (and appropriate feedback given) after 7 Days without payment. All payments will be forfeited (not refunded!)  if the item has not been picked up within 30 days from date of purchase.   I have 100% feedback here as a buyer and seller and I am extremely reasonable, but if something should go wrong with this transaction because the buyer flakes, these are my written and expressed terms.

XXXXXXXXXX         SHIPPING: (Continental US sales only.)     XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Obviously, shipping an item this size is a big issue.

Option 1. Free Local Pickup, greatly preferred. Continental US residents, BID AWAY IF YOU CAN COME PICK THIS UP!

Option 2.  I am willing to facilitate Freight or Small Load shipping from Albuquerque, paid for and set up by the buyer, to include meeting a freight driver with the bike, etc.- Within reason, of course, and all my expenses (crate/Pallet?) paid by the buyer.

Option 3.   I live near Albuquerque New Mexico which is near the center of the state. For the cost of the gasoline and snacks needed (paid by the buyer)  I am willing to haul the bike to meet a (pre-paid) buyer at any one of 5 places: NORTHEAST-Raton NM (1-25 at the Colorado Border) , NORTHWEST-Farmington NM, (US550 at the Colorado Border near the 4-corners), EAST-Tucumcari NM (I-40 at the Texas Border), WEST-Gallup NM (I-40 at the Arizona Border), and SOUTH- Las Cruces NM (I-25 at the Texas Border. If this seems like a route you may want to go, PLEASE CONTACT ME PRIOR TO BIDDING so we can set this up as it would have to be planned and scheduled and there are windows of time I would not be available to do it. Buyer pays for my hauling costs up front.

XXXXXX REFUNDS/ WARRANTIES XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Also, buyer is purchasing a used item and I am not a business. I sell things because I need money, and when I get that money- I need to spend it- and it is lost to both of us forever into the fiscal ozone.  I make every effort to thoroughly describe, illustrate, and explain the used items I sell- but I provide NO REFUNDS AND NO WARRANTIES for used items I sell on E-bay.

Joey Dunlop on a V4 Honda at the '83 TT

Fri, 28 Sep 2012

Onboard video footage doesn't get a lot better than this: Joey Dunlop during practice at the TT in 1983 onboard a factory Honda RS850R. An 859cc ultra-short stroke V4 Honda that Joey mastered around The Island, later winning the TT Formula 1. Although the 'production' race, the RS850R stretched that to the limit.

Having a Randy Mamola moment

Thu, 10 May 2012

Back in 1985 Randy Mamola was captured on film performing the most miraculous save of all time, hanging on for dear life as his Honda NSR500 tried to fling him from his seat. Recently, we've seen some impromptu homages to the original with Jonathan Rea at Assen and the near-save from Jakub Kornfeil in the Moto3 race at Jerez. Now we have on-board footage of American racer Genki Hagata calming a high-side at the Infineon Raceway in California.

Maverick Vinales Quits Blusens Avintia Moto3 Team

Fri, 19 Oct 2012

Maverick Vinales seems to be living up to his name, announcing he is leaving the Blusens Avintia team despite sitting second in the Moto3 World Championship with three rounds to go. Vinales traveled with the team to Sepang for the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix but did not take part in Free Practice and later announced the split. You may remember Vinales from last season when he raced in the former 125cc Grand Prix World Championship for the Paris Hilton-sponsored Blusens-BQR team.
