Honda CB description

For Sale: 1983 CB1100F. This motorcycle is in exceptional unrestored condition. It has right at 14,500 original miles. It is a super example of this early 80s superbike.

It has four “period correct” modifications: eurospec boomerang wheels, KERKER exhaust, Koni rear shocks, and a recently rebuilt Shindy steering damper. It also has replacement turn signals that are a bit smaller than the OEM signals. The original signals weren’t on the bike when I purchased it.

The only mechanical engine modification that has been done is an upgraded starter clutch/sprag. If you search eBay using the search phrase “cb1100f starter clutch “ the first item that comes up in the search results is the exact replacement I installed. This is a $250+ modification not including the labor for installation. The OEM starter clutch is prone to wear and becomes unreliable. The original starter clutch on this bike was worn out and would only work effectively about 20% of the time. It comes with the purchase of the bike if you want it.

I had a seat cut down a few inches to improve seating position for me. The original seat (which has a seam in the seat cover coming apart, see pics), OEM shocks, and OEM wheels are included in the sale of the bike as well.

The bike runs great once it’s at running temperature. Its cold natured just like all the DOHC Hondas. It does have a few minor cosmetic flaws. It is 33 years old. There is a ding in the fuel tank at the bottom of the tank on the right hand side. It’s about the size of a nickel. It’s really difficult to see unless you kneel down and look right at it. See the pictures. Otherwise, it has a few nicks in the paint and that’s all.

You would have a hard time finding a nicer unrestored 1100F anywhere.

It also has new Michelin Pilot Activ tires and new EBC brake pads front and rear.

I’ve owned several of these DOHC Hondas. This CB1100F is at the top in both condition and how well it runs so bid with confidence.

Please look closely at the pictures. Ask questions if you need too. I will answer as quickly as possible. Do not bid if you have zero feedback or if you have no intention of paying for the motorcycle.

A NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $500.00 due within 24 hrs. of sale.

Buyer responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping.

I will work with a licensed, bonded, and insured shipper to get the bike to you.

Honda NM4 Vultus Concept Revealed

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

Honda revealed a new concept model called the NM4 Vultus, a futuristic-looking 745cc motorcycle with a massive front fairing. Despite the fact it looks like a mockup made for a movie like the Kawasaki-based bike in the recent Robocop reboot, Honda says the NM4 is indeed planned for production. The NM4 was designed by a team of young engineers in their 20s and early 30s, and that’s demographic Honda wants to target with its new concept.

Voluntary Recall for Continental ContiMotion Sport-Touring Tires

Mon, 21 Jan 2013

Continental Tire announced a voluntary recall campaign for certain ContiMotion sport-touring tires. According to Continental, market feedback has shown some tires may experience uneven wear from the 180/60R16 74H ContiMotion rear tires. Tires may develop groove cracking and, in some cases, belt lift, conditions which can lead to a loss of tire inflation pressure and a potential for loss of control.

The North East,Prescott and fast laps with Chris Walker at Mallory

Thu, 26 Apr 2012

A big thanks to all at Newcastle Motorcycles for lending me a Honda CB1000F on Saturday to do nothing other than join mates for a blast round some fantastic roads in the North East. The buddies in question were Alan Smith (Bradley’s dad) and two stroke addict and race fan Chris Berriman. We headed east over the moors from the ‘Toon’ heading towards Barnard Castle then back through Consett before finishing up at the picturesque Tynemouth.
