2014 Honda CRF250R Announced

Honda has completely overhauled its CRF250R motocross bike for 2014, offering an all-new engine and an aluminum beam frame inherited from the CRF450R. With a claimed weight of 231 pounds, the 2014 model is actually 4 pounds heavier than the 2013 model, but the new updates are designed to improve mass centralization, with Honda claiming it to be more flickable and nimble than before. According to Honda, the new frame weighs 20.6 pounds, while the main frame spars meet the steering head lower than on the previous frame, helping lower the center of gravity.

Based on the concept model unveiled last October at Intermot 2008, the new motorcycle is expected to be a sport-tourer powered by a 1200cc V-4 engine with variable cylinder technology which can allow it to run on only two cylinders to conserve fuel.  There are also rumors that the motorcycle will have a semi-auto gear box which will give the rider the option of going manual or automatic. Honda has a dedicated website for the V4 where you can enter for a chance to win a spot to be one of the first to test drive the new bike, unfortunately, the contest is only open to Europeans. Andrea Antonelli Dies After Moscow World Supersport Crash

Italian racer Andrea Antonelli succombed to injuries suffered in a crash during the World Supersport race at Moscow Raceway in Russia. The Go Eleven Kawasaki racer crashed on the final corner of the opening lap in very wet conditions, and was struck by Pata Honda racer Lorenzo Zanetti. The race was immediately red-flagged and Antonelli was taken away by ambulance while medical staff attempted to resuscitate him, but the 25-year-old was pronounced dead at 2:10 pm local time.
