Harley-Davidson Sportster description

Here is the coolest, retro, '70s Italian racer style motorcycle (but much more reliable!) built by Moto Nisto (nr.4) using a Harley Davidson hot rod 1200cc engine. Heads are ported, squish band set at an optimum .030", compression bumped to 10.3:1, Screamin'Eagle high lift-long duration cams, 2 into 1 free-breathing stainless steel Supertrap exhaust, K&N filter and carburetor dialed in. It is about 70lbs lighter than a stock Sportster and it tops out at over 140mph, not bad at all for a Harley! Even so it still gets about 45mpg! Might not be as fast as a modern metric bike but it's one of the coolest Harleys out there. Air cooled, self adjusting valvetrain, clean and vibration free-long lasting belt drive, extremely reliable and plenty of parts available. The powertrain is very smooth being rubber-mounted into the frame, a pleasure to ride. Custom built as follows: 4 piston PM billet brake calipers with stainless steel rotors upfront, trimmed front fender and mounts, cleaned legs and shortened axle, rubber gaters and aluminum clip-on handlebars using OEM controls. Vintage fiberglass Ducati reproduction fairing installed on frame. The 7" Honda headlight housing is modified to allow for bulb replacement without removing the fairing. The gages are OEM. Hand levers are grooved for finger comfort and aesthetics. Clutch lever received a Teflon coated inner wire and an easy-pull device for effortless engagement. The turn signal blinkers were unplugged and removed for simpler looks. The fuel tank is a 4.3gallon cafe racer style tank with knee cut-outs, flip cap and dual petcocks. The seat is made of 20ga stainless steel and is covered with high density foam upholstered in thick leather, and is more comfortable than it looks because of the 12" width and tall backrest. Under the seat is a superbright LED tail light made by Fabricator Kevin. Behind the license plate is the rear brake reservoir feeding the custom made rear-set brake control. The foot shifter is also mounted rearward for a comfortable seating position. The rear pulley is modified for a trick, sprocket-like look. The front pulley cover is also modified for a retro look with cooling slots milled out. Rear tire has about half life left, the front a bit more. The paint has blemishes here and there but doesn't need to be repainted immediately, no rust anywhere. It functions flawlessly and is truly a one of a kind cafe racer, it turns heads wherever it goes and it was featured in numerous magazines. But if you prefer a more naked racer without a fairing I have another one for sale, but will only let go of the one fetching a better profit so check my other auction and show your interest by bidding.

Harley Declares Women Riders Month

Tue, 10 Feb 2009

Back in July of ’08 Motorcycle.com announced that The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum and Nationwide Insurance were working together to mark July as Women’s Motorcycle Month in order to honor the contribution made to history by female riders. This May, Harley-Davidson is staging a series of events in order to celebrate women on two wheels by declaring May, “Women Riders Month.” Some of the Harley-Davidson Women Riders Month initiatives will include special rides in New York City and Milwaukee as well as an attempt to grace the pages of the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest number of women motorcycle riders trained in one weekend.
