Harley-Davidson FXR description

This is a 1988 Harley Davidson FXRP / Windshield model, the "ED" designator in vin proves that for those that realize the scarcity and value of this vintage motorcycle. The engine has been torn down and rebuilt at 42450 miles by Roger @ #1 Cycles and Machine (website is 1cyclesandmachines). Jugs were bored and honed with torque plates to (.005). Heads were trued and surfaced (.003). 5 way valve job performed  with Screaming Eagle Springs installed. Woods W6 cam, Red S&S pinion, breather gear, oil pump inspected and reassembled, cam bearing, S&S lifters, adjustable push rods, Harley 8.5:1 pistons, rings, bearings, locks, Cometic Gaskets. Mikuni intake, HSR42 tuned and jetted, Vance and Hines short shots. Transmission was inspected for gear play / run out, it was well within spec. Chrome starter /solenoid is only 8 months old. The seat is a LePera Bare bones that was stripped, re-padded and covered in Ally Gator with a matching rear fender bib and dash insert made by Rex @ Simons Designs.  Controls are custom, not full forward but enough to be comfortable. She has dual disc fronts / single disc rear – pads replaced and system bled 10/2015. Trans and Primary fluids changed at rebuild with Amsoil. Paint is HD Metallic Cobalt Blue (DuPont Chroma Base). The Chroma Base paint actually changes color depending on lighting. Goes from cobalt blue to a metallic purple. The motor is now broken in with only 1352 miles on the clock. Break-in phase: Dino oil/filter chg @50 miles - dino oil/filter chg @500 miles. At the 1000 mile mark oil was drained, oil tank flushed and a new filter and Amsoil synthetic 20w-50 was added. This was already the Police stroker motor but now with the freakin' awesome build and proper break in, she runs like a striped arse ape and gets quite a few compliments... Clear title, no liens, NO BS.

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

As we gleaned from recently revealed CARB documents, Harley-Davidson has introduced two new liquid cooled engines. The new engines use a combination of air-cooling and precision liquid cooling, similar to what BMW did with its 2013 R1200GS. One version of the engine, dubbed the Twin-Cooled High Output Twin Cam 103 will be used on the 2014 Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited and the Tri-Glide Ultra trike while the CVO Limited will use a 110ci engine known as the Screamin’ Eagle Twin-Cooled Twin Cam 110.

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

AMA Pro Racing announced a new class for Flat Track racing designed to provide a new stepping stone for up-and-coming Pro-licensed racers, replacing the Pro Singles class in 2014. The new class, to be called Basic Twins, is more or less a revival of the Basic Expert Twins division that ran during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but dropped when the Pro Singles class was introduced for 2009. The new class will give young racers a chance to showcase their skills on Twins, easing their transition to eventually enter the Grand National Expert Twins class.

Tue, 09 Oct 2012

Americans reported 46,667 motorcycle thefts in 2011, a 6% decrease from 49,791 stolen motorcycles in 2010, reports the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Despite the drop in reported thefts, the non-profit organization representing nearly 1100 property and casualty insurance companies says the theft rate still averages out to one motorcycle stolen every 11 minutes in the U.S. The numbers were published in the NICB’s 2011 ForeCAST Report which examined theft reports as well as recoveries.
