Ducati Other description

Up for grabs...1972 Ducati 750 GT barn find project bike.
One of approximately 700 sandcast 750 crankcases made in the early years. This bike retains the unique kick start lever only found on the sandcast examples. Also notable is the UNcracked primary cover that was the Achilles' heel of sandcast crankcase examples. This bike is a time warp example!  Just as developed for the US market by Ducati for Berliner. It even retains the rarely seen foil tag on the head stock. Most early GTs were fitted with Amal 932 Concentric carbs. This one appears to have been fitted from new with DelLorto carburetors as offered on the sport version. The choke cables have obviously been attached for a long time. Face it: Ducati was a small operation and they fitted what was at hand that day. The correct fiberglass tank is fitted as well as the correct seat. The seat is in need of restoration but provides a good pan to use. Correct turn signals are still on there as well as the US market high bars. The side covers are present, and the super-rare "oval" Conti mufflers are in good condition . Early Smith's instruments indicate 26,479 miles. Speedometer even still has reset sticker !  The correct Borrani rims and Inox stainless fenders further contribute to the certificate of "authenticity " of this early Ducati GT "barn find". Engine is presently stuck but "soaking".
This auction offers a rare opportunity to acquire an unmolested Ducati GT. This was the bike that jump started Ducati's presence in the US and on the track.
Feel free to give us a call or drop us an email and we will be happy to answer any questions - thanks for checking out our auctions!
Low cost shipping may be an option, depending on your location!
And because this is ebay, please note that this motorcycle is currently non-running and will need a full restoration.

Please note: we will cancel any bids from bidders with less than 10 feedback.  If you are interested but have less than 10 feedback, please give us a call.  We are advertising this bike for sale locally so we reserve the right to end the auction early, however, we will not end the auction once a bid is placed so bid early.  Thanks!

Tue, 31 Jan 2012

Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden got their first taste of the new Ducati Desmosedici GP12 race bikes at the official MotoGP test at Malaysia’s Sepang circuit. It’s only the first day of the pre-season test, and Ducati spent much of its time trying to establish a base setup for the rest of the three-day test. Rossi logged 43 laps and his best time was 2:02.392, fifth fastest of the test and 0.735 seconds behind leader Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha.

Ducati: World’s Fastest Spider?

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

According to a report in The Vancouver Sun, a fast little spider was recently discovered in the high-elevation Flathead Valley of southeastern British Columbia. Measuring only three millimeters in length, the Apostenus ducati is so small and fast it is nearly impossible to catch, says Robb Bennett, the Royal B.C. research associate responsible for helping name the arachnid.

Milan show: Ducati Diavel latest

Tue, 02 Nov 2010

Just got back from Ducati's stand in hall 18 and it's swamped. People are literally scuffling to get a sit on the new Diavel. I managed to scuffle my way to the front and even though the handlebar grips were dripping with other people's excited hand secretions, it was a pleasant experience.
