Ducati Monster description

Up for sale here is a super rare 2002 Ducati S4 Fogarty.  This is a special edition Monster created to honor World Superbike racer Carl Fogarty.  There were only 300 of these bikes manufactured worldwide with only 75 making their way to the US and sold exclusively by internet.  This particular bike is #196.  These bikes are very, very rare and command a big price for those collecting Ducatis.  This bike, along with the others will increase in price due to their very limited numbers.

The S4 Fogarty has a special red, white, and black color scheme to reflect the factory Ducati colors raced by Fogarty.  It sports a 916cc V-twin Desmoquattro engine and Termignoni carbon fiber exhaust cans.  It is loaded with carbon fiber bits all over to include the bikini fairings.  The bike has a total of 4,609 miles.  The instrument cluster was changed out on warranty with noted mileage of 3,325 at that time.  I have the service record from a Ducati dealer showing that.  The odometer showed 123 miles when I bought it and it now reads 1,284.  So I put a total of 1,161 miles on it.   I replaced the air filter with a K&N model, new battery, and changed the oil about two weeks ago.  The bike also comes with front and rear paddock stands which came with the bike when it was new (the stands have some minor rust on the bottoms, not viewable unless you turn them over).  You can see the special Fogarty emblems on the stands.  It has the Foggy cover that came with the bike (looks like it was never used).   It comes with two ignition keys, the red key, and the key card.  It has the owner’s manual and tools under the seat.  I will include the second ECU if you want to put DOT cans back on it.  I have not serviced the bike other than to change, brake fluid, battery, and air filter.

This is a beautiful bike and shows like new.  I got compliments on it every time I took it out.   It runs beautifully and sounds like a beast.  Being such a rare bike, you are almost guaranteed to be the only one on the road.  In fact, I took it to an Italian Motorcycle Show a couple years ago that had a lot of bikes.  This was the only S4 Fogarty there.  It is fast and the Termi pipes make it loud.  You WILL turn heads on this bike.  Unfortunately, I do not have time to ride this bike as life has over-ridden the opportunities to ride it.  I am very reluctantly selling this to make room in my garage.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  I can provide phone number if you want to talk on the phone.  I suggest you view the bike personally.  I will allow test rides with cash in hand.  I will assist the buyer in loading the bike for shipping, but all business regarding shipping is the buyer’s responsibility.  A $500.00 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of auction end.

This is the press release for the S4 Fogarty:

Bologna, Italy - A special edition of the latest addition to the Monster family has arrived. The
S4 Fogarty will be available exclusively on-line at Ducati.com starting June 20th for the price of 18,000 Euro, approximately $15,400 US (using a conversion rate of 1 Euro = 0.853391 USD). The S4 Fogarty was created in homage to racing legend Carl Fogarty, whose ability, determination, and amazing dominance have inspired and thrilled racing enthusiasts worldwide.

Aldo Drudi, noted designer of racing helmets for numerous renowned pilots, created an aggressive and stylish new graphic scheme for the new model.

The fuel tank, front mud guard, headlight fairing, seat cowl and footpeg brackets, which are the same color as the frame and wheels, were also specially designed for the
S4 Fogarty by Aldo Drudi.

The engine underwent significant improvement as well. A range of upgrade options are available such as raised oval carbon-fiber exhaust kit manufactured by Termignoni, an injection CPU featuring a dedicated calibration and a special airbox with a corresponding frame. The gain in performance is remarkable, increasing the standard 101 HP at 8750 rpm to 110 HP at 9750 rpm with the "Fogarty" version.

Each bike comes with an exclusive titanium plate etched using laser technology - specially designed by the Poggipolini Company - and fitted near the
fuel cap. Etched on the plate are the Foggy logo, his signature, and the bike’s serial number.

Thu, 04 Jun 2009

With the record setting MotoGP of Mugello finishing up this past weekend, Motorcycle.com takes a look at the high speed action on the track. Just as always, as Motorcycle.com continues to cover all the 2009 MotoGP racing news, The Sidecar stays focused on the tracks of this years Grand Prix season. Admittedly I don’t know that much about Italy.

Bayliss Retires from Motorcycle Testing

Tue, 26 Jun 2012

Retired World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss announced he is retiring once again, this time from his duties as a test rider for Ducati. Bayliss, who retried from racing after winning his third WSBK title in 2008, had been working with Ducati, most notably as a test rider for the Ducati 1199 Panigale. Bayliss tweeted (@TroyBaylisstic) his intention to no longer test on June 23, just hours after beating Valentino Rossi in the finals of the Diavel drag race at World Ducati Week 2012.
