1978 Custom Ducati. One of a kind great custom Ducati, modified to have a 900SS look. 1978 Bevel drive engine - you will notice the bevel window in the photos. Handmade one of a kind aluminum polished gas tank is eye catching - makes the bike stand out in a crowd. Alloy wheels with polished stainless steel spokes. Del Orto 38mm carbs. Recently painted (2014) with Ducati paint (Ducati Yellow- looks orange). Frame is a 900ss reproduction -- very high end, manufactured 1976-1981 (extremely hard to find -- frame alone would sell for $3K plus). Engine number research shows it is most likely a GTS that was put into the 900SS frame. Odometer is 7938 miles.
Bike was purchased from an individual in Florida 8 years ago. It is a project that was done with a great deal of intergrity - maintaining the lines of the SS with a fraction of the cost.Completely repainted and engine meticuously taken care of. The controversial cut through the famous Corkscrew was arguably the most dramatic moment of the 2008 MotoGP season (and ironically, recreated this year, with Marc Marquez turning the tables on Rossi).

Mon, 14 May 2012BMW earned its first-ever World Superbike race win at the U.K.’s Donington Park, but missed out on sweeping the round after teammates Leon Haslam and Marco Melandri crashed on the final corner while battling for the lead in the second race. Melandri earned BMW its landmark first win in Race One leading Haslam in a one-two finish. They could have repeated that finish in Race Two but Haslam low-sided after making contact with Honda‘s Jonathon Rea trying to pass on the inside.
