BSA Lightning description
1968 BSA Lightning for sale. The frame VIN is A65LA6002. The VIN does indicate that it is actually a '67 model, as well as the single leading shoe brake, however, the bike was titled as a '68, most likely due to it being sold that year. Title is clear. The bike is currently not setup as a matching numbers bike, however I do have the original cases in my possession. The original ones were damaged previously, but have since been repaired and are ready to use. Those will come with the sale here. The engine was rebuilt from top to bottom two years ago by the previous owner and his mechanic and has less than 500 miles since the work was done. It has new pistons, rings, rods, valves/guides, and bearings. It has new Amal 930 carbs, new Dunlop Gold Seal tires and tubes on stainless steel rims and spokes with a quick disconnect rear wheel. It has a new electronic rectifier, new fork boots, and new rear shocks. The engine is very clean and polished with no broken cooling fins whatsoever. The paint is like new and is the original red color. Chrome is in great shape. No signs of rust or heavy blemishes. The tank, fenders, side panels, seat, chain guard are all original BSA parts and as far as I know they're original to this bike. I require a $500 deposit within 24hrs of auction end from winning bidder. This is a non-refundable deposit and will be applied to final sales price. The remainder of full payment is due within 7 days by Cash or Cashier's Check from a major bank. If other arrangements need to be made, please contact me before bidding. All shipping related costs are at buyer's expense. All shipping arrangements are the buyer's responsibility. If you are outside the United States, please contact me before bidding. To winning bidder, I will not release the bike to you and/or your shipper until the full payment has cleared so please make appropriate arrangements with me. This is an AS IS sale with no warranties given by seller, express or implied, and all sales are final. I do not accept returns. Please do not bid if you do not intend to pay!

Man Builds Sidecar from Bathtub
Thu, 23 Apr 2009Back in 1997, an unusual motorcycle appeared on the front page of the Bristol Evening Post. Unable to afford a costly traditional sidecar, bus driver Alan Iles of Bedminster opted to build his own, using a bathtub. Twelve years later, the 1959 650cc BSA is still going and has been ridden all over Europe to help raise money for Cancer research and various charities, for which he has raised thousands of British pounds.
