BMW Other description

2008 BMW K S, For sale is my 2008 BMW K1200S. $9995 includes luggage and extras....read on. This is the smoothest, most powerful and most comfortable sport touring bike Ive ridden. The bike currently has 28,000 miles on the clock and I ordered this bike with ABS, computer, heated grips, factory luggage, center stand and no ESA. (ESA was something new to the K bikes in 2008 and I didnt know about longevity) . Im the only owner, have the title in hand and the maintenance is current. It lives in a heated garage next to my 69 Chevelle and I spent over $20,000 getting this bike sorted. It can be yours for $9995! Ive put on several upgrades to make those long trips that much better and are included in the price. Rick Mayer saddle for a 190 pound rider, Heli-bars anodized in black to match switchgear, Double bubble windscreen, Throttlemeister cruise control in anodized black to match switchgear. Factory BMW luggage and Center stand. In addition, I've made some other cosmetic changes. This motorcycle started life as a Silver bike with yellow wheels and accents from the factory. I could never get used to the yellow so I had the yellow wheels and accents professionally powder coated black. I also sent off the other miscellaneous silver bits to powder coat to match the existing black engine cases and switch gear. You will not find another K1200 like this one! Custom Remus exhaust. I called the factory in Europe and had them make me an ALL BLACK version of their K1200S exhaust with badge delete. Smoked signal lenses Fender eliminator for license plate(iron butt plate surround is mine, youll have to earn your own!) Replaced cheap plastic slide in gear shifter with roller bearings for more precise shifting, Black anodized fuel cap. I have all the original paperwork, books, receipts, keys and maintenance records from services and oil changes. I've done several oil changes myself with receipts for the oil and filters. All updates and factory recalls have been done by the dealer. Here is the stuff that needs to be addressed. Fuel gauge doesnt work. Fuel strip failed this spring out of the blue. The dealer wanted about $300 to replace the strip. I kept the $300 in my pocket and use the trip odometer. I know I can get about 190 miles from a tank. Tires are done. Pilot Road 3s are complete toast after 6000 miles. Buy the bike at full price and Ill put the tire of your choice on so its ready to ride. The tires I liked the best on this bike are the Pilot Road 2s. .And now, the why am I selling bit. After being on sport touring bikes the last 10 years, it's time for an adventure bike. I want to move to a GS, 1190 Adventure or SuperTen. We'll see after some test rides. No trades please. I want a new one to outfit how I like. Contact or 970 925-4749 $9,995.0

BMW Developing Organic OLED Lighting

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

BMW is developing a new organic light emitting diode lighting system for cars and motorcycles. Unlike conventional LEDs, organic LEDs (or OLEDs) uses wafer-thin semiconductive layers made from organic polymers to produce light. OLEDs are more efficient and emit less heat than LEDs.

OEMs Plug into Electric Bikes

Sat, 01 Nov 2008

KTM introduced its prototype electric motorcycle earlier this week, and electric bike manufacturer Zero Motorcycles almost immediately responded by opening sales on its 2009 Zero X dirt bike (look for our review of the 2008 model next week!). But these two companies aren’t the only ones exploring the possibilities of electric-powered motorcycles. In September, Japan’s largest industrial information journal Nikkei Business Daily reported that both Honda and Yamaha have set target dates for launching their own electric-powered motorcycles.

Q3 2013 US Motorcycle Sales Results

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

Motorcycle and scooter sales in the U.S. in 2013 remain consistent with last year’s figures, according to data released by the Motorcycle Industry Council. Several manufacturers blamed poor weather for the poor start this year, and the rebounding sales in the third quarter helped to negate the slow sales from earlier in the year.
